Frames are the thing you put in the time line. there are 4 different kinds of frames : empty frames, empty keyframes, full frames and full keyframes. (the pics shows only empty and full keyframes (white = empty, gray = full).

Flash MX
is easy!
How to use frames
How to use frames
In order to use a frame, first you must understand how to use the timeline. The timeline is the bar at the top of the stage, which represents - suprisingly - the time :-P. When you insert a frame at 1 (top part of the time line is numbers, where you find 1,5,10,15,20, ect.) you actully insert a time unit. frames are mostly not used for animations but thay are the   most basic thing that you need to know.
- frame = time unit
- time line = bar that represents time
Flash MX is easy to use!!!
The first and most basic kind of animation is called frame by frame animation. it is used mostly at arty movies and high qulity games. The frame by frame animation is just like it sounds - you draw something at a frame, and on the other frame you make a small change. here you will learn the most basic of the most basic - to create a movie that includes one thing - here im using a car - that moves through the screen.
This is the car i used in my first movie!!!
(Yes, yes, i know its a bug.... i love this kind of cars.. l0l)
This is how you import things to flash...
do it yourself!!!
Do it yourselves - stage one
the first thing you need to do is to import the picture that you want on the screen. there are three ways to do that -
1. Click on file>import>import to stage>choose what you want to import and it will be on the stage.
2. Click on file>import>import to library>choose what you want to import>open library panal(ctrl+L)>choose the pic and drag it to the stage.
3. Copy \ paste.
Do it yourselves - stage two
Delete the white\ background of the pic and Move the car to the edge of the stage (using the mouse or the arrows). then insert a keyframe at number 2, and move the car a bit. Then insert a keyframe at number 3 and move the car a bit. do it until 10. if you did it correctly, when you will test youre movie (ctrl+enter or control>test movie), the car will move from one side of the screen to the other (or to where you moved it).
This is how you insert a keyframe...
Motion tweening is one of the ways to animate things in flash, and its very easy to use. Now we will learn only the basic way, but there is alot of other stuff that you need do know. motion tweening makes flash do the dirty work and calculate the distance, frame number and more things like that to make a perfect animation.
In order to create a motion tween, you need to do 4 things -
1. choose the thing you want to move (mc, graphic, button).
2. choose a starting point for X*.
3. choose the length of the tween (how many frames the animation will take from the total timeline. for example - from frame 1 to frame 12 the complete animation will take 1 second in defult options.).
4. choose the ending point for X*.

*X = the thing you want to move (MC, graphic, button).
Wait - how the hell am i choosing a starting point and an ending point?
Like this, then choose all the frames and --> right mouse click --> create motion tween.
I used only lines, one circle, FBF animation (above) and Motion tweening (also above). BTW, smoking does kills, dont do it!!
